The main purpose of disinfecting drinking water is to kill pathogenic microorganisms that cause waterborne diseases. The liquid chlorine disinfection system consists of a MixRite dosing pump, a polyethylene chlorine tank, and a diluted liquid chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite) solution. When selecting a chlorine dosing pump, the water flow rate (hourly capacity) and the pressure values on the pipeline where chlorination will be applied are taken into consideration. Chlorine dosing should be performed on the pipeline leading to the reservoir or directly into the tank. Depending on the contamination load, the water should remain in the tank for the desired contact time with chlorine.
