What Is a Flake Feed Plant?

A flake feed plant is a specialized production facility designed to process grains and legumes such as corn, barley, and wheat by steaming and flaking them using roller mills. This process enhances digestibility and significantly improves animal performance by converting raw grains into flake-form feed.

Flake Feed Production Process

Cleaning Unit

Raw materials are cleaned to remove dust, stones, stalks, and other foreign materials. This step is crucial for ensuring product quality and protecting downstream equipment.

Steam Unit 

The grains are softened by steam in a conditioning chamber, allowing for the partial gelatinization of starch. This improves digestibility and prepares the material for flaking.

Flaking Unit

The steamed grains are pressed between heavy-duty rollers to form thin, flat flakes. This flaked form increases surface area and nutrient availability.

Drying Unit

Moisture content in the flaked product is reduced using industrial dryers, which increases shelf life and prevents spoilage during storage.

Cooling Unit

The dried flakes are cooled to ambient temperature, making them suitable for packaging and storage.

Packaging Unit

The cooled flake feed is bagged using automatic or semi-automatic packaging systems, ready for transportation and sale.
