Drum Meadow Mower

Drum meadow mower is a mounted type meadow mowing machine powered by the tractor's power take-off shaft with free rotating blades. It is connected to the tractor via a three-point hitch system, driven by the power take-off shaft, and features two drums rotating in opposite directions with freely swinging blades that cut green forage plants (clover, vetch, meadow plants, barley, oats...) and leave them in swaths on the field surface. When the drum mower encounters an obstacle, the spring pressure on the claws is overcome, releasing the cutting unit and allowing it to open backward.

To attach the three-point hydraulic regulated machine to the tractor, the tractor is moved close to the machine. First, the left lower link, then the right lower link, and finally the top link are connected to the machine. The machine's support leg is lifted and the tractor's tension arms are loosened. The machine is lowered onto a flat surface so that the extension of the inner shoe's midpoint is 5 cm from the outer edge of the tractor's right rear wheel, and the tension of the lower links is tightened in this position. The tractor's right lower link should be adjusted to keep the blades parallel to the ground. Always apply these settings and connection methods before each use. The machine is kept in the correct position. The tractor reverses toward the machine. After adjusting the distance, the machine is connected to the tractor at three points. The shaft clutch transmitting motion is connected to the tractor's power take-off shaft. After mounting the machine on the tractor, the saddle locking lever is opened. The tractor reverses to bring the machine into the cutting position. When the angle between the machine and tractor reaches 90°, meaning the cutting position is reached, the automatic lever is engaged on the saddle pin to fix the machine in the cutting position.

Safe Operation of the Machine

Before using the machine, the plug next to the gearbox should be removed and filled with SAE 140 gear oil to a level that prevents leakage. At the end of each mowing season, the machine should be cleaned and the oil checked, then stored in a suitable environment. Cutting disc blades must not be missing. Always use blades of equal length. Different blade lengths can unbalance the discs, cause early machine failure, and shorten the machine's lifespan. When starting the machine, keep the tractor speed very low. After the machine engages, increase to full speed (do not exceed 540 rpm). Adjust the forward speed according to the crop and field conditions when cutting begins. If the cutting discs hit an obstacle, they move backward, causing the tensioner to adjust. In this case, immediately stop the tractor and put the gear in neutral. Remove the obstacle and resume operation.

Replacing Cutting Blades

Worn cutting blades can be easily replaced using a blade removal/installation tool. When replacing blades, lift the blade with the removal/installation wrench until the blade locking pin is free. When installing new blades, ensure the cutting edge is facing downward.
